EMVCo Payment Tokenization for Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and Banking Apps

Generating and validating payment cryptograms for contactless NFC and in-app mobile purchases.

The EMVCo Payment Tokenization Framework

When a cardholder registers a credit card with Apple Pay or Google Wallet, the primary account number (PAN) is replaced by a digital token stored in the phone's Embedded Secure Element (eSE). MobileHSM acts as the Token Service Provider (TSP) cryptographic backend, generating and wrapping token profiles.

Validating In-App Purchase Cryptograms

During checkout, the mobile secure element signs transaction parameters using an ephemeral token key. MobileHSM verifies the cryptogram, translates the token back to the underlying funding account, and routes the transaction to the card network switch in real-time.
